In those times when we feel alone and generally just not coping well, those are the times when we need the support of our friends and our partners more than ever.

Here are some tips for maintaining friendships even when it feels impossible:

  1. Be open and honest: Share with your friends what you're going through and how you feel. It's okay to ask for support and understanding.

  2. Make time for your friends: It's important to prioritize time with your friends, even if it's just a phone call or quick catch-up.

  3. Set realistic expectations: It's okay to set boundaries and let your friends know what you need in order to make time for them. Talk to them and find ways to make it work for both of you.

  4. Seek support from others: Joining a support group for parents can be a great way to connect with others who understand the challenges you're facing.

  5. Take care of yourself: Make sure to prioritize self-care and do things that bring you joy and fulfillment.

  6. Don’t worry if you don’t have lots of friends: Some people love hanging out with groups of friends, while others prefer having a coffee with one good friend. There is no right or wrong regarding the number of friends you need. One good friend can be just as good as a whole group.

Remember, your friends can provide a valuable source of support and connection during difficult times. By making an effort to maintain those relationships, you can create a supportive network that can help you to feel less isolated and overwhelmed.
